Sea Kayaking - Canoe & Kayak Instruction

Our half day or 1 day sessions are run on flat water and are designed to be a fun introduction for novices to the sport. By the end of the session you should be able to paddle in a straight line, reverse, turn around, stop and get out in a hurry as well as playing some games and getting a bit wet!

Discover canoe / sea kayaking day
Great for groups and individuals willing to have a go, this day is a fast-track to paddling! Starting with a flat-water session in the morning to develop your basic paddling skills, in the afternoon we will move onto deeper or moving water to enhance and develop your new skills.

Improvers 1 - 2 day course

Ideal as a follow up to the beginners course. The improvers course concentrates on skills, and is for those who can paddle but want to take it to the next level. We look at basic white water skills such as breaking in and out, ferry-gliding, and balance turns, and refining these skills on faster flowing waters, as well as introducing skills such as surfing on standing waves and small stoppers. We will also look at essential elements like grading, throw-line skills, reading the river and trip planning. For the sea paddlers in addition to the above we will look at tides, tidal races, navigation and sea safety.

Private guiding for paddlers on the lakes and rivers of the Lake District

We can offer personal coaching to individuals or groups in Kayaking. This can be on any type of water, from flat to grade 3. Because it’s personal coaching, we will tailor the course to your own requirements, including BCU Awards (1 to 5 star courses, Canoe Safety Test and Levels 1 to 3 BCU Courses). Please contact us for further information.
